FUCHS: Instead of commercializing love, we should use Valentine's Day to remind ourselves of love we have

During the season of Valentine’s Day, it can be hard for a lot of people. Some individuals are going through recent breakups, have never been in a relationship or just do not like the holiday. I am personally a hater of Valentine’s Day. Despite being a hopeless romantic, there is nothing I hate more than this holiday. My college experience was unique in that I only really experienced two full years of it. I had my first year at a private liberal arts college that was far away from my home. I ultimately was not happy there and chose to transfer to Rutgers in the spring of 2020. After half of a semester, I spent the next year and a half in online courses due to the pandemic. My senior year, I came back to Rutgers for my first in-person year and worked as a resident assistant. Although it was ultimately rewarding, it was hard to have enough time to make friends. She was very friendly and welcoming, though, so overall I felt comfortable with her. Recently, I read a very interesting play in French literature called, "Tartuffe" or "The Imposter," by Molière. "Tartuffe" tells the story of a man of the same name who masquerades as being pious and religious but is really just broke and trying to take advantage of a rich family.
