On April 19, Demarest Hall held Demfest, its yearly music festival, on College Avenue Campus. The featured bands included Skylar Pocket, Zoloft Zombie and Daddy’s Closet performing original songs.

On April 13, the New Brunswick Free Public Library hosted its annual Holi celebration honoring the traditional Indian festival of colors on Livingston Street. The event included color play, dancing and Indian snacks.

On April 6, the Rutgers University Japanese Student Association presented its yearly Sakura Fest, a celebration of Japanese-American culture and community, at Voorhees Mall on the College Avenue campus. The event featured dance performances, food, games and martial arts demonstrations.

Protestors chants included "Free, free Palestine!" and "Gaza, Gaza, don't you cry! We will never let you die!" Some protestors held signs saying, "Rutgers funds an apartheid state" and "Land you have to kill for is not yours. Land you have to die for is."

On Thursday, Demarest Hall on the College Avenue campus hosted the Halloween Cover Show, with several bands performing their renditions of some of the top hits from popular music groups. Bands included Something Odd as The Arctic Monkeys, Fleetwood Sac as Fleetwood Mac, Bad Parenting as Black Flag, ER as The White Stripes and Public Access as Pinegrove. Many event-goers showed up in costumes and even participated in a costume contest.

On September 28, Rutgers Desi Intercultural Youth Association (DIYA) held Diwali Dhamaka at the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue campus. The event included dancing, food and performances. All proceeds went toward Shanti Bhavan.

On April 13, LLEGO: The LGBTQQIA People of Color Organization at Rutgers held Queer Ball for the Ages at the Rutgers Student Center on the College Avenue campus. The event included dancing, voguing and live music and performances. All proceeds went toward the Hyacinth AIDS Foundation.

On April 19, members of The Daily Targum and WRSU Radio Station met up for a game of basketball at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Livingston campus. It was the second annual match of the rebooted classic between the two teams.

On April 10, the first teaching strike in Rutgers’ 257-year history launched, spreading picket lines across all three University campuses. The strike was suspended on April 15 when the University and the three unions — the Rutgers American Association of University Professors and American Federation of Teachers (AAUP-AFT), the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union (PTLFC) and the American Association of University Professors at the Biomedical and Health Sciences of New Jersey (AAUP–BHSNJ) — issued announcements that they had agreed upon a framework. Though the strike is currently suspended, no contracts have been signed. Organizers and demonstrators continue to rally across campuses.

On April 14, Rutgers Students for Justice in Palestine held an emergency protest at Brower Commons on the College Avenue campus. This was organized in response to the recent attacks on worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque. Protestors organized outside, some holding signs saying, “Hands off Al-Aqsa Mosque” and “Stealing land makes you a thief. Not a partner for peace.” They also chanted, “Long live Palestine” and “Free, free Palestine.” Attacks on mosques in Palestine have repeatedly occurred during the holy month of Ramadan over the past several years.
