The year 2020 has brought us many things, including babies. Hollywood is fronting a major baby boom, with many celebrities, from from Katy Perry to Gigi Hadid, announcing their pregnancies since the beginning of this year.

While some stars became pregnant before the pandemic took charge, their pregnancies have been aligned with a number of world events in the past few months. Let’s take a look down the list of celebrities who are new parents or expecting.

Perry recently welcomed her baby girl Daisy Dove Bloom in late August, her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom. Perry announced her pregnancy in her music video for “Never Worn White,” where she is seen cradling her baby bump, and then later revealed that she was expecting a baby girl.

After Daisy Bloom was born, Perry and Orlando Bloom decided to launch a United Nations Children's Fund donation on her behalf to aid parents that don’t have access to resources for a smooth pregnancy and healthcare workers.

Speaking of her turbulent pregnancy, Perry said in a radio interview, "I've been overwhelmed, I've been anxious. I've been happy, I've been overjoyed. I've been depressed. I've been all of it.”

The long awaited birth of Hadid and Zayn Malik’s daughter has finally arrived. Everyone’s heart soured upon hearing the announcement that Hadid was pregnant with longtime on-and-off boyfriend Malik.

The supermodel maintained a mostly private pregnancy, hunkering down with her family and loved ones in her mother’s farmhouse in Pennsylvania. Malik was the first to post a picture of his daughter, his large hand grasping on to her tiny fingers. Hadid offered a glimpse of her daughter wearing gifts from her friends including a pink, silk handmade blanket from Taylor Swift.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are arguably the world’s most heartwarming couple. The pair tied the knot at their infamous and spontaneous ceremony in Vegas last year and rumors of Turner’s pregnancy swirled in February. The couple also opted for a private route, never confirming they were having a baby.

The “Game of Thrones” alumna welcomed her daughter Willa in late July and since then, her and Jonas have been enjoying parenthood outside of the spotlight, according to TMZ. Just a few days ago, Turner recently shared never-before-seen pictures during her pregnancy on her Instagram.

Starlet Ashley Tisdale announced she was pregnant with her husband and composer Christopher French in a sweet Instagram post. She posed in a flowy white dress and showed off her growing baby bump, leaning her head on her husband’s.

Nicki Minaj loudly disclosed news of her pregnancy with a photoshoot she posted on Instagram in July. The rapper is expecting her first child with husband Kenneth Petty, who she married in October 2019.

She shared a series of outtakes clad in a bedazzled bikini, colored hairdo and stilettos while hugging her baby bump. “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes,” Minaj said in one post.

Here’s a statement that will make you feel old: Ronald Weasley is on his way to being a father. Rupert Grint and his girlfriend Georgia Groome “are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time,” according to E! News.

More on the British front, Ed Sheeran popped his head out to share an image of a pair of baby socks placed on a blanket inside a crib, announcing that his wife Cherry Seaborn had given birth to their daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. Ed Sheeran said that both Cherry Seaborn and their daughter are doing well, and the couple are on “cloud nine.”

Celebrities have been able to experience pregnancy with increased privacy albeit unusual circumstances. It’s not surprising that in current times, they have had more time to spend with their partners and reconsider their personal goals over professional ones. So while the world has slowed down its pace, half of Hollywood decided to pick up and start a family.
