RUPD arrests third suspect involved with aggravated assault on Aug. 31
On Oct. 14, the Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) arrested a third male perpetrator involved in an aggravated assault that occurred at approximately 3:18 a.m. in the area of College Avenue and Bartlett Street on Aug. 31, according to a University-wide email sent yesterday.
Taha Y. Eleiwa, a 20-year-old male from Piscataway who is unaffiliated with the University, has been charged with several offenses including aggravated assault, rioting, theft and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose following the arrest.
The RUPD previously arrested two other male perpetrators involved in the incident on Sept. 23 and Sept. 27, according to a University-wide email sent on Sept. 30. Adham A. Saleh, an 18-year-old male from Cliffwood, and Hassan M. Bayoumi, a 21-year-old male from Highland Park, both unaffiliated with the University, are facing the same charges as Eleiwa.
The investigation is currently ongoing as the RUPD is actively seeking to identify one additional male perpetrator in connection to the incident. Anyone with information concerning these incidents that can aid in the investigation should contact the RUPD’s Detective Bureau.
The RUPD told students to stay alert to their surroundings, avoid dark or isolated areas and report suspicious activity to the police, according to the email. Escorts are also provided to members of the Rutgers community upon request.
