DODARO: Simply Chai is simply best
Column: Sip it Up
After finally coming to campus, I can officially say that the hunt for refreshing drinks has begun. The first stop I have been meaning to check out was Easton Avenue’s very own Simply Chai. Not only is it a chill study site, but also the drinks are spot on if you are ready to grind out some work or need to grab something on-the-go.
When I walked in, I was met with a “How is your day?” and a menu with more chai teas than I could have imagined, from their Magic Masala Chai to their Lavender Chai, I was in awe at the different flavor combinations. They even have a Pumpkin Spice Chai and an Apple Spice Chai for the fall season, so if you are like me and love fall-themed items make sure to grab a drink.
I cannot forget to mention their category of drinks dedicated to CBD. For all of the CBD fans out there you can pick drinks options from chai to regular tea.
Aside from the tea they have to offer, Simply Chai has a variety of coffee options as well. So if you are the type of person who likes a coffee to wake you up as you are working, there is no lack of caffeine here. I was excited to see they had all of the classic coffee options: americanos, cappuccinos, espresso shots and more!
While I was not able to try any of the food I did browse the menu and was met with some tasty options. They have small plates for those who want a light meal, and for people looking for heartier options, there are sandwiches as well. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had vegan and vegetarian options. There is yummy cuisine for everyone to pair with the proper choice of drink.
In addition to savory eats they also have sweet choices offered, which is a decent selection of delectable desserts finishing off the experience. This included croissants, donuts, muffins and brownies. I know I am going to satisfy my sweet tooth when I make the return journey to Simply Chai for dessert.
After ordering the Chai Latte, I sat down to enjoy the natural lighting and the calm atmosphere. While I was waiting for my drink, I noticed they had books available to read and a journal to write in about anything you want.
This was nice considering most food and drink establishments do not take the time to hear out their customers’ thoughts. It was interesting to be able to see other people’s entries in the journal while waiting for my latte.
Then, the moment of truth finally came. My drink was ready! I rushed up to the counter within mere minutes of ordering and I sat down to sip on my latte. I can definitely say it was the most authentically flavored chai latte my taste buds have ever had the honor of trying. The chai tasted like a blend of cardamom, cinnamon, star anise and so many other spices.
This paired with the milk created a dreamy combination of spiced sweetness. And while I prefer my chai lattes iced for a refreshing taste, you can order warm drinks if that is more your speed.
The only complaint I have is the size of the drink because there was only one size, and it did not satisfy my bottomless urge for more delicious chai. That said, I do think that the price of about $4 to $5 per drink is justified due to the authenticity and quality in every cup. But if paying a little extra for drinks is not your cup of tea, then Simply Chai might not be for you.
Before I have to stop writing about this amazing café, I cannot fail to mention the fact that Simply Chai delivers. I do not know about you, but I love to be lazy and order food or drinks in, so I am relieved that I can order chai at my door for no stress. It truly is a dream come true!
All in all, if you want a comfortable study spot with high quality drinks and a bite to eat, Simply Chai is the place to go. I recommend checking this place out over the bigger chains like Starbucks or Dunkin’ because supporting a small business makes everyone a bit richer.
