The Zimmerli Art Museum on the College Avenue campus recently joined the Bloomberg Connects app ahead of its new exhibition featuring disabled artists, according to a press release.

The app, which contains accessibility features such as alt-text and captioning, is particularly pertinent for the exhibition. Titled "Smoke and Mirrors," the exhibition is intended to replicate and comment on the experience of disabled museum-goers.

It also provides supplemental pre- and post-visit materials on the pieces on display, which include drawings, video and multimedia. At the exhibition, there are scannable QR codes with audio from the artist or curator, as well as themed categories, the Zimmerli announced.

The Newark Museum of Art was the first museum in the state to adopt the app in 2021, according to the Newark Museum of Art. The Zimmerli joins more than 550 other cultural institutions and museums using the app.
