The Rutgers women's soccer team made it three straight wins at home against NC State on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights (4-1-1, 0-0) outplayed the Wolfpack (2-3-1) in a lights-out 2-0 victory.

Rutgers came out the first half with an electric start. Senior forward Riley Tiernan played a ball past the NC State back line toward junior midfielder Allie Post, who connected with the pass inside the 18-yard box with a one-time left-foot finish to open the scoring.

The most dangerous chance for the Wolfpack came at the 30-minute mark. A corner found the head of Brianna Weber, who forced redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer to make a fingertip save.

With less than 2 minutes to play, the Knights had the last chance of the half after senior midfielder Kylie Daigle took a free kick from approximately 40 yards out and forced NC State goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas to make a crucial save.

Rutgers ended the half with a 1-0 lead, outshooting the Wolfpack 9-2.

The second half started off slow, with both teams unable to create dangerous chances.

But redshirt freshman Gabriela Gil sparked the attack for the Knights. Gil received the ball at the top of the box and played a through ball into Post, who replicated her 1st goal with a one-time, left-footed shot into the far side. It was Post's 2nd goal of the game and her first career brace.

Bodmer sealed the game for Rutgers with some great saves, coming off her line twice to earn her 13th career shutout.

"I think we've been playing well," said head coach Mike O'Neill. "We continue to get better, which is really important because the standard has to be better tomorrow than it was today."

After the game, Post spoke on the win. "I think it's really good to be going into Big Ten play coming off three wins," Post said. "We're gonna take that momentum and see where we can go with it."

The Knights will now rest a few days before they begin Big Ten play against Wisconsin on Thursday night. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. in Madison, Wisconsin, and be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
