The Rutgers women's soccer team tied with Wake Forest 1-1 in the Scarlet Knights' (1-0-1) second game of the 2024 season on Sunday at Yurcak Field on Busch campus. Rutgers scored late in the first half, but an answer from the Demon Deacons (1-0-1) in the second half of the contest would even the game up until the final whistle blew.

The game was quiet until the 44th minute when junior midfielder Allie Post pickpocketed a Wake Forest defender and dished a pass to redshirt freshman forward Reilly McGlinn, who, after a few nice touches, sent her shot to the back right of the net and past goalkeeper Payton Cahill. The tally was McGlinn's first of her collegiate career.

"It felt really, really good," McGlinn said. "I had my whole team behind me. I went in the last five minutes (of the half). But as our coach says, we're not (a) sub we're difference makers."

The Knights would take their 1-0 lead into halftime despite trailing the Demon Deacons in shots 7-3.

The second half was equally as quiet until the scoreboard changed once again. In the 66th minute, Caiya Hanks beat redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer to level the game at 1 goal a piece.

That score would stand until the final as Rutgers answered its season-opening victory on Thursday against NJIT with a draw four days later.

Wake Forest led the Knights in shots (13-6), corner kicks (8-2) and fouls (12-10). Both goalkeepers made two saves for each of their teams.

Rutgers will look for its second win of the season when it hits the road to face off against UMass, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
