RUPD investigates carjacking in College Avenue parking lot

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is looking into a carjacking that occurred in Lot 30 behind the College Avenue Gym on Friday night, according to a University-wide email.

A University-affiliated individual reported that at approximately 11:25 p.m., two masked individuals allegedly approached him while he was seated in his car and presented a weapon, ordering him to hand over the vehicle. The victim was not physically harmed but lost his car in the encounter.

The perpetrators took off with the victim's gray Toyota RAV4 down Ray Street toward Easton Avenue. A description of their appearances is limited at this time, the email read.

The RUPD requests that those with any information on the incident reach out to the RUPD's Detective Bureau.

Furthermore, the RUPD advises the University community to remain alert of their surroundings and reminds the community that RUPD escorts are available upon request.
