The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred last night five blocks away from the College Avenue campus, according to a University-wide email alert.

The incident occurred near the intersection of High and Hamilton Streets when two masked men entered a vehicle and attempted to steal it. The victim, who tried to stop the perpetrators, was not affiliated with Rutgers.

One of the suspects punched the victim after they resisted the carjacking before fleeing the scene on foot. A description of the suspects was unavailable at the time of the alert.

The NBPD asks anyone who may have been nearby or has any information about the incident to contact the NBPD Detective Bureau.
