NBPD investigates attempted robbery near College Avenue campus

The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating an attempted car theft that occurred on Monday at approximately 8 p.m. near Easton Avenue and Somerset Street, according to a University-wide email alert.

The vehicle's owner approached the perpetrators, who then fled the scene. The victim is not affiliated with Rutgers and was not injured during the incident but was physically attacked before the offenders fled, according to the email.

No weapons were used in the incident, and no description of the suspects was provided. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NBPD Detective Bureau.

The Rutgers University Police Department also reminded the community to report suspicious activity to the police immediately and to stay aware of their surroundings.
