The New Brunswick Housing Authority will receive $1,036,482 to modernize and improve public housing in the city as part of a larger infusion of federal funding, according to a press release.

Last week, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development will invest $93,830,496 in public housing across New Jersey.

"From investments to make large-scale repairs, energy efficiency upgrades and modernize public housing properties in New Jersey, these funds will play a critical role in improving the lives of millions of New Jerseyans at a time when housing costs are soaring," Menendez said.

Of 21 New Jersey counties, 19 received funds that will go toward 54 total housing authorities throughout the state, according to the release.

Other cities with Rutgers campuses, Newark and Camden, also received funds. The Newark Housing Authority received $23,161,630 and the Housing Authority of the City of Camden received $3,415,365.
