Though she originally gained notoriety in 2014 while appearing on the hit Disney Channel show "Girl Meets World," Sabrina Carpenter is now making major waves in the music industry.

The up-and-coming pop-princess has previously released four other studio albums, but her most recent has been catching the public’s attention more than ever before. Since the release of her fifth studio album in July 2022, "emails i can’t send," Carpenter has been quickly gaining attention from a wider audience, including myself.

I have always enjoyed Carpenter’s music, but listening to this album was the first time I have ever set aside time to dive purposefully and deeply into one of her projects. I also met her and saw her perform at a music festival in 2017, so my memories of her charming and kind personality along with her musical talent drew me in even further.

While the title and album cover piqued my interest, it was the songs, lyricism and overall musical content of this project that made me want to stay. I truly believe that this album is one of the best full-length releases of last year. After its release, it was received by critics positively, and the hit song "Nonsense" from the album finally hit the Billboard Top 100.

While Carpenter has made a name for herself over the years within the music industry, not many can find sudden elevated success after the release of their fifth album. For that feat alone, I give her huge props for continuing to grow as an artist and improving her craft with every project she releases.

Carpenter embarked on the "emails i can’t send" tour from September to October of 2022, performing 14 shows across North America in a variety of venues, and has announced she's extending the tour. Throughout this tour, Carpenter began to go viral on TikTok as people posted videos taken from the tour.

People were especially fond of her crowd interactions in between songs which gave the concert a much more intimate feel than most others. This newfound popularity on social media opened many people’s eyes to Carpenter’s talents and infectious personality, helping her gain even more traction for her album and expanding her fanbase.

As a result, Carpenter is set to embark on a second leg of her tour across North America, this time performing many more shows at bigger venues with a larger capacity.

I am extremely excited about the upcoming leg of new shows, as I wasn’t able to see her the first time around, but I recently bought tickets to see her in May. You can find links to the tickets, merchandise and fun videos on her website, cleverly designed to look like an old email account.

In regards to the album itself, it is a beautifully insightful, mature and cohesive project in comparison to her past albums that I’ve listened to. It discusses more adult themes and deals with problems and realities that many other twenty-somethings face.

This album has been a part of my daily listening for a while now, and I have truly enjoyed every second of it. While this project is relatively short with only 13 tracks coming in at nearly 40 minutes long, every second of it is purposeful and intuitive.

If you’re an avid listener of pop music and haven’t taken the time to check out this phenomenal project, I highly recommend it. Some of my personal favorite tracks are "Tornado Warnings," "Already Over" and "skinny dipping."

I truly believe this is just the beginning for Carpenter and that she will continue to gain even more notoriety and success as the years go on. I’m so happy people are finally giving her the flowers she deserves, and I can’t wait to see the continued growth of her musical career in the future.
