RUPD investigates sexual assault at Easton Avenue Apartments

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is currently investigating a criminal sexual assault that occurred on Monday, according to a University-wide email alert.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. in the laundry room of the University Center at Easton Avenue Apartments.

The victim, who is affiliated with the University, reported that while in the laundry room, the male perpetrator engaged her in conversation, during which he grabbed her on the buttocks using his hand.

The victim did not receive any physical injuries from the incident, according to the alert.

The perpetrator is described as a male, college-age individual who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with shorts that were black or red.

The RUPD asks anyone who may have been around at the time or anyone who has information to contact the detective bureau, according to the alert.

In addition, the RUPD reminded students to stay alert to people and their surroundings, avoid isolated or dark areas and immediately report suspicious activity to the police.
