Ready to laugh? These streaming-ready sitcoms will have you in stitches
Sitcoms are an American classic. What’s better than a show that’s funny, entertaining and has short, easily digestible episodes?
Sitcoms have become an extremely popular genre of TV in the past few decades due to their funny and lovable characters, witty humor and fresh plotlines in every episode. Many famous sitcoms have gone on to garner upward of five seasons and millions of dedicated fans.
Although there are plenty of hilariously entertaining sitcoms to choose from, here are my top four favorites of all time:
"New Girl"
“New Girl” is truly one of the best shows that's been created in the past few decades. It's hilariously funny, outrageous and extremely heartwarming at times.
It also has an all-star cast and amazingly written characters with a plot that is hard not to love. Zooey Deschanel is phenomenal as Jessica Day, a ditzy, fun-loving teacher who moves in with three random guys from Craigslist after she finds her boyfriend cheating on her.
The guys, Nick, Schmidt and Coach (and later, Winston) have to learn to adjust to their new female roommate and her crazy personality and antics.
“New Girl” has become one of my favorite shows of all time. It's a great comfort show to watch when you need something to lighten the mood and brighten your day just a little bit.

“Schitt’s Creek” is one of my favorite shows I’ve seen in recent years. The humor is extremely witty and dry yet hilarious, and the characters are so outrageously outlandish while also being relatable.
“Schitt’s Creek” stars father-son duo and co-creators Eugene and Daniel Levy, who are absolute geniuses, and Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy, who both help tie the whole ensemble cast together.
The show centers around the Roses, an elite, mega-wealthy family who suddenly loses its fortune and are forced to temporarily reside in a rural town called Schitt’s Creek. The show follows the family patriarch and matriarch, Johnny and Moira Rose, and their two spoiled 30-something-year-old kids, David and Alexis. “Schitt’s Creek” follows their lives in the rural town, working to rebuild their lives while adjusting to life in a run-down motel.

“How I Met Your Mother” is a hilarious early 2000s comedy that I’ve been really enjoying recently.
It contains hilarious jokes, amazing characters and follows more of a traditional sitcom style approach throughout its seasons. The show has an amazing cast starring Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders as Ted, Barney, Marshall, Lily and Robin, respectively.
“How I Met Your Mother” follows the lives of a close-knit friend group in New York City. The plot centers around Ted, who's telling his children the story of how he met their mother.
The show plays through flashbacks as he continues to tell the story in the present day. It's filled with heartwarming moments, jolts of comedy and a phenomenal cast of characters.

"Only Murders in the Building"
“Only Murders in the Building” is a somewhat new, criminally underrated show. While it doesn’t exactly follow the formula of a traditional sitcom, it has loads of dark comedy moments and mystery all tied together in short 30-minute episodes. The show has an outstanding cast of actors, starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short as Mabel, Charles and Oliver, respectively.
“Only Murders in the Building” centers around a group of strangers living in an exclusive Upper West Side apartment building in New York City. All three of them are completely different, but they have a shared love for true crime podcasts.
When a horrific tragedy occurs in their building, Mabel, Charles and Oliver take it upon themselves to start their own true-crime podcast and solve the murder. While doing so, they uncover a whole new can of worms that takes the case in a whole new direction.
