Feel all your feels by following these tips to embrace Pisces season
As of Feb. 18, we’ve entered Pisces season — a time marked by emotional vulnerability, imagination and tapping into one's dreams.
Ruled by Neptune, Pisceans are naturally imaginative, empathetic and have a dream-like energy surrounding them that makes them incredibly unique. Pisces is also the 12th zodiac sign, which means that natives with this sign are influenced by the qualities of the 11 other signs.
More importantly, Pisces is a mutable sign, the modality of change and flexibility. This makes this season a great opportunity to reconnect with yourself and discover where internal change may be necessary. Here are some ways you can maximize the benefits of the season:
Manifest, manifest, manifest
Pisces are well known for their psychic abilities and incredible intuition, and in turn, can be powerful manifestors.
The art of manifestation isn’t clear-cut nor does it have one definition. To me, manifestation is simply a practice in aligning internal desires with tangible reality. One doesn’t have to be a Pisces to successfully manifest either — they just need to have an open mind and willingness to accept this energy.
So if you haven’t already, this season is a great time to tap into your manifestation powers and lay the groundwork for the upcoming Aries season (March 21-April 19) which will provide us with the energy to take action and make those dreams into reality.
I highly recommend investing in a manifestation journal (check out Amazon for cheap options) and using this space to write out your goals, no matter how outlandish they may sound. Authentically articulating what we want for ourselves into existence through pure intention and conscious practice of the law of attraction is the key.
Be specific and unapologetic with your pen — in Pisces season, practicality isn't the priority. The bounds of what you can manifest for yourself and your life are limitless, so let your imagination run free and let the universe know of your most authentic needs.
Feel the way you feel
As a sign under the water element, Pisceans are highly sensitive and in tune not only with their own feelings but also with those of others. In Pisces season, you may notice an emotionally charged energy in the air or the feeling of wanting to open up and connect with others.
Don’t ignore this energy — especially if you’ve been neglecting yourself or your relationships. Reach out to that friend you’ve been meaning to catch up with, have that deep talk with your significant other that you’ve been putting off or even spend some time alone to be introspective and reflect on the year thus far.
How do you really feel about yourself and the people around you? Are you running away from something? These are all things that the insightful energy of Pisces season can allow you to answer.
Regardless of what you choose to do, it’s important to allow yourself to just feel the way you feel and not question it — acceptance of our truest feelings is key to deeply understanding oneself.
Reconnect with your inner child
In astrology, Pisceans are known for having healing abilities that help others grow from the inside out. And although saying “healing your inner child” might be a meme on social media, in all seriousness, it’s incredibly beneficial for your mental and emotional well-being.
Based on Jungian ideology, the inner child is exactly what it sounds like: the younger versions of you that exist within the walls of your present self. The inner child is the “you” who loved to go outside at 6 years old and had their first crush in middle school.
In a perfect world, our inner children would be happy and healthy and, in turn, allow us to approach adulthood with the enthusiasm and hope we once had. But as many of us know, this rarely is the case.
Take this time in reflective Pisces season and consider this: What did you really crave growing up that was consistently denied?
Once you find that answer, do it wholeheartedly! If it was attention or love, draw your attention inward. Take care of yourself and no — I don’t mean by doing the 4 a.m. Cassie from "Euphoria" beauty routine or cleaning your room. Hug yourself as if you’re trying to reach inside to your 7-year-old self and squeeze all her pain out. Cry. Pour your soul out into pages.
Be angry, be sad, feel hurt, and then, forgive yourself. Give yourself the empathy you wish you received — that’s what Pisces season is all about.
But also remember that it’s okay to be ridiculous or light-hearted. Pisces is all about imagination and freedom — so frolic outside of Murray Hall on the College Avenue campus and wear fun colors.
Inner child healing doesn’t have to be serious. Sometimes, my roommates and I scream into pillows and throw karaoke dance parties. Aside from these activities being super fun, they’ve allowed us to heal in ways that therapy or introspection just can’t.
Pisces season energy is among us until March 20, so if you haven’t already, take advantage of its magical energy — it'll pay off greatly.
