RUPD investigates aggravated assault at intersection of Union, Mine Streets

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating an aggravated assault that reportedly occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. yesterday at the intersection of Union and Mine Streets, according to a University-wide email.

The victims of this incident, who are affiliated with the University, reported that they were physically assaulted by several unknown males following a verbal dispute. Following the assault, the perpetrators fled the scene.

One victim received nonlife-threatening injuries as a result of the incident and was treated at a local hospital before being released, according to the email. The perpetrators’ descriptions are currently limited.

The RUPD told students to stay alert to their surroundings, report suspicious individuals and activity, avoid dark areas and travel in groups at night. Escorts are also available to members of the Rutgers community upon request.
