New Brunswick recently approved eight marijuana businesses to open stores within the city, according to an article from MyCentralJersey. Having received endorsement from the city, the businesses now await state approval.

The businesses that have been approved for licenses are Earth & Ivy, Puffin Store, Maryjayne's Touch, NB Green Delivery, LBOZ, NBFC, DC Vitality and Fathom Cannabis.

Earth & Ivy will be located at 355 George St. and Puffin Store located at 382 George St., with another store in the area being Maryjayne's Touch, according to the article. These businesses are in a Retail Cannabis Overlay Zone — Downtown zone, which authorizes retail establishments to operate and sell cannabis products.

The other businesses are permitted in the Cultivation/Manufacturing/Wholesaling/Distribution/Delivery of Cannabis Overlay zone. NBFC, DC Vitality, LBOZ, NB Green Delivery and Fathom Cannabis will be located along Jersey Avenue.

Currently, NB Green Delivery and LBOZ are attempting to obtain delivery licenses, and the other businesses are seeking licenses for cultivation and manufacturings from the state, according to the article.

New Brunswick is one of the only locations within Central New Jersey that will permit all types of cannabis businesses, including growing, manufacturing, wholesaling, distributing, retailing and delivering.

Cannabis consumption is prohibited in retail locations, outdoor areas and other public places, according to the article. Retail marijuana establishments will be able to operate from 10 a.m. to midnight, unless a residential zone is within 200 feet of the building.

In those cases, retail stores will be required to close by 10 p.m., and establishments for cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, wholesaling and delivery will be required to close by 8 p.m or face fines.
