Looking for its first win in the Big Ten Tournament in program history, the No. 3 Rutgers field hockey team gets ready to take on 7th-seeded Indiana today at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals at Bauer Field.

The Scarlet Knights (15-3, 6-2) are the host team for the tournament. The action starts today with three games, two semifinals games on Friday and the championship on Sunday.

The last time the teams faced off, Rutgers won 1-0 early in October. The Knights lead the all-time program series 9-2.

Rutgers comes into the postseason on a three-game winning streak and a record-breaking season under their belts. Their 15 victories were the highest in a season with head coach Meredith Civico at the helm. Six of those wins were against conference opponents, a program record.

Several players received accolades such as senior goalkeeper Gianna Glatz receiving Big Ten Co-Player of the year and being named First Team All-Big Ten. Graduate student midfielder Katie Larmour was also named to the First team while senior back Kerrie Burns and senior Milena Redlingshoefer were named to the Second Team All-Big Ten.

Tied with Bannatyne in goals but leading the Knights with 23 SOG Redlingshoefer. She also has nine assists and has started in all 18 games. Another four players have 4 goals, including Burns. An everyday starter, Burns notched three assists and had nine SOG.

Sophomore forward Bridy Molyneaux is now part of that group after scoring Rutgers’ first hat trick since 2017 against Michigan State. One more player has 3 scores, and another five Knights have found the back of the net.

Handling most of the work in the cage for Rutgers is Glatz. Through 16 starts, she has given up 15 goals while making 61 saves. In two starts and in relief of Glatz, sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Howard has made 10 saves, given up 3 goals and secured two wins.

The Hoosiers (10-9, 2-6) come into the tournament after losing 6-0 to then-No. 6 Northwestern. Over the entire season, Indiana is scoring as frequently as they let in goals with 38 apiece. The Knights are outscoring opponents 38-18.
