It's time to warm up your closet: Here are some fall fashion staples you need
With fall right around the corner, our wardrobes are in need of a real refresh. But since the weather in New Jersey can teeter between warm and chilly, transitional clothes are the way to go.
Here are some essentials that you may want to stock up on this fall:
This is great for when it’s chilly but not really cold enough for a heavy winter jacket. A jean jacket is a great example of a functional, fashionable and light jacket that can be layered with a sweatshirt underneath or worn for neutral weather with a tank top or t-shirt. They also go well with a wide range of outfits, so it is a great piece of clothing to have in your closet for years.
I personally love sneakers that can be worn up or down — and, most importantly, are comfortable. Neutral colors, green and brown sneakers are especially in style right now, and they have a wide range of different styles! Sneakers like Converse, (especially platform Converse, I love mine!) Reeboks and Vans are comfortable and versatile options for the fall.
It goes without saying that fall is the perfect time to bring out pants, but the real question is what kind. Boyfriend jeans, mom jeans and even bootcut or flare jeans are perfect for fall. Medium wash, black and grey are all great choices when choosing a jean color. Another fantastic option is trousers. They're light, yet warm enough and so comfortable. They can be worn casually or even for events — points for versatility!
Whether it’s a flannel or corduroy button-up, this is a great piece to own for the fall. They're fantastic for layering over crop tops, t-shirts or under a light jacket.
My personal favorite boots at the moment are my chunky platform Dr. Martens. They make my 5-feet-4-inches-tall self look and feel taller while adding a bit more edge to my outfits. Plus, black goes with everything!
Remember: Getting the basic staples will help you style your outfits both up and down, regardless of the season, so always try to look for quality over buying a larger quantity of clothes.
Happy shopping!
