Rutgers releases weekly coronavirus testing update

Rutgers released its Weekly University Health Update yesterday with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing results for the week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 6.

A total of 9,056 tests were performed, with 146 positive results and 8,891 negative results, according to the email. Nineteen tests came back as inconclusive, according to the University’s Testing Program Dashboard.

Students made up 114 of the positive test results, with 32 employees also testing positive, according to the dashboard.

Rutgers—New Brunswick had 114 positive test results, according to the dashboard. Rutgers—Newark had six positive test results, and Rutgers—Camden had five.

Additionally, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS)—Newark had 11 positive test results, and RBHS—New Brunswick/Piscataway had nine, according to the dashboard.

The weekly proportion positivity rate decreased to 1.61 percent, compared to the previous week’s 2.46 percent, according to the dashboard.

Since the University began its testing program in May, 129,727 tests were performed, according to the dashboard. There have been a total of 1,867 positive cases, 127,435 negative test results and 425 inconclusive tests. Overall, 1.44 percent of tests came back positive, and 98.23 percent came back negative.
