RUPD investigates criminal sexual contact incident

The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is investigating an incident of criminal sexual contact which occurred on Sunday at approximately 7 p.m., according to a University-wide email alert. 

The incident occurred on Bishop Place between College Avenue and George Street, where the victim, who is affiliated with the University, was approached by a male perpetrator on a bicycle. The perpetrator touched her buttocks with his hand before fleeing on the bicycle down College Avenue toward Somerset Street, according to the email.

The perpetrator is described as a white or Asian male in his late 20s who is approximately 5 feet 10 inches with a medium build. He was riding a black road bike and wore a red and black jacket, black pants, a black beanie and a black gaiter face mask. 

Anyone with information about the incident is advised to call the RUPD Detective Bureau, according to the email. The RUPD also said students should remember to remain alert, avoid isolated or dark areas and avoid traveling alone at night.
