Rutgers secret society leaves prank for U. of Michigan's head coach
A secret society of Rutgers student leaders and alumni known as the "Order of the Bulls" left a message for University of Michigan Head Football Coach Jim Harbaugh, the group revealed in an email sent early Saturday morning to The Daily Targum.
An attached picture showed a teddy bear, a picture of Harbaugh and a letter that the society left at the foot of the "First Game" statue located directly across from High Point Solutions Stadium in the early hours of the morning.
In the email, the order claimed to be preparing for a "prank" that would be "bigger and better" than the magnets and teddy bear left at Paramus Catholic High School in early June.
The Rutgers football team passes in front of the statue during the Scarlet Walk, a traditional team walk to the home stadium usually about three hours before every home game.
The Scarlet Knights (2-3, 0-2) suffered their worst loss since 1888 in a 78-0 shellacking at the hands of the No. 4 Wolverines (5-0, 1-0) Saturday night in the first ever "Stripe the Birthplace" game.
The email's sender said the order is comprised of Rutgers students with connections to alumni who were able to influence major decisions in recent Rutgers history, including the firing of former head football coach Kyle Flood and hiring of Chris Ash, the acquisition of President Barack Obama as the speaker of the University's 250th commencement speaker and the initial creation of The Alley, a student tailgate that was shut down after the first three home games of the 2016 season.
