Senior midfielder Shane Knobloch and graduate student attacker Ross Scott were both drafted by the Carolina Chaos in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) draft on Tuesday. Knobloch was the fourth overall pick in the first round of the draft, making him the highest-drafted Scarlet Knight in program history. Scott was the 20th overall pick in the third round.

Knobloch finished his career at Rutgers with 98 goals and 49 assists in 60 games played. He was an All-American in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Knobloch is the first Knight to be selected in the first round of the draft since Connor Kirst was the seventh pick in 2021.

“We’re elated to pick him up in the first round,” said Carolina head coach Andy Towers on Knobloch. “He continued to impress and does not have a weakness. He’s crafty and can make defenses pay. He couldn’t be a better teammate, mentally tough and hyper competitive.”

Scott totaled 182 points off 109 goals and 73 assists at Rutgers, the 11th-most points and 12th-most goals in program history. Scott was named an All-American in 2022 and 2023 and was a three-time All-Big Ten selection.

The Knights now have 44 alumni from the Major League Lacrosse, National Lacrosse League and the PLL. Thirty-two of the aforementioned alumni have played under head coach Brian Brecht.

Rutgers had eight former players on PLL rosters last season, with players like Ethan Rall and Colin Kirst currently making strides in the league. With Scott, Knobloch, Joe Nardella returning from injury and Ronan Jacoby signing with the New York Atlas, there are now 12 Knights in the PLL.

Knobloch and Scott will look to make an instant impact with the Chaos when the PLL season begins on June 1.
